Bon Secours’ history begins with three young nurses who traveled from France in 1881 with a mission: to care for the sick and dying in Baltimore. Their model of care was notably different. It addressed not just the patients’ needs, but those of his or her family and the community. It represents the earliest version of “population healthcare,” introduced well before the hospital was constructed.
