Grand opening unveils $6.8 million Community Resource Center in Boyd-Booth neighborhood
Donations, grants and partnerships funded the project that offers programming and a gathering space for youth and adults
A grand opening of the Bon Secours Community Resource Center in West Baltimore was held in April 2022 to unveil the new facility to funders, state and local leaders and the community. A ribbon cutting and open house celebrated the completion of the $6.8 million project that is a partnership between Bon Secours Community Works, Kaiser Permanente and the Anchor Group. Grants and donations to the Bon Secours Baltimore Foundation's campaign for the Community Resource Center provided funding to complete the building.
The Community Resource Center restores an essential gathering space in the Boyd-Booth neighborhood that has been shuttered for decades.
The Bon Secours Community Resource Center is now open to all West Baltimore community members free of charge. It was specifically designed by and for the West Baltimore community with a focus on youth services, workforce development and economic development. A variety of walk-in and scheduled programming for both children and adults is available including:
- After-school programming
- Job training and employment services
- Financial wellbeing center
- Multi-purpose rooms for community meetings, events and flexible programming
- Gym with full basketball court
- Recording studio available for lessons and rental
- Community Works programing throughout the year

Those who attended the grand opening participated in tours of the Center, interactive presentations, visual arts and physical activities, and performances and African drumming workshops. The community is invited to contribute to a time capsule that will be sealed for the next 25 years.
